This policy explains how ILEES issues, maintains, renews, suspends and revokes credentials, how they can be verified, and how candidates can appeal decisions.
01Eligibility
Each course page states who the programme is intended for and any prerequisites. Candidates must provide valid identification and accurate personal details before assessment.
02Assessment
Assessments combine written theory tests and practical tasks against published criteria. Assessors record evidence for every decision. Reasonable adjustments may be requested in advance where they do not affect the competence being assessed.
03Issuing credentials
Successful candidates receive an ILEES certificate; operator programmes also include a wallet ID card. Every credential carries a unique serial number and QR code linked to the ILEES register.
04Validity and renewal
The validity period is set per programme and printed on the credential. To renew, the holder should complete the applicable refresher training and reassessment before the expiry date. Expired credentials remain on the register and show as “expired” when verified.
05Verification
Anyone can confirm a credential on the ILEES verification page using its serial number or QR code. Results show whether the credential is valid or expired, together with the details needed to match it to the holder. Records that cannot be found should be treated as unverified and reported to us.
06Lost or damaged credentials
Holders may request a replacement through their training center or by contacting ILEES. Replacements carry the same validity dates as the original.
07Suspension and revocation
ILEES may suspend or revoke a credential where:
- it was obtained through fraud, impersonation or assessment malpractice;
- it has been altered or misused;
- it was issued in error; or
- a serious safety concern related to the holder’s competence is substantiated.
Suspended or revoked credentials will not verify as valid.
08Appeals and complaints
Candidates may appeal an assessment decision within 14 days of receiving the result by writing to [email protected] with the reasons for the appeal. Appeals are reviewed by a person who was not involved in the original decision, and a written outcome is provided. Complaints about training delivery are handled in the same way.
09Impartiality and confidentiality
Certification decisions are based solely on objective evidence of competence. Assessment records are treated confidentially and used only as described in our Privacy Policy.
