This Privacy Policy explains how the International Lifting Equipment Engineers Society (“ILEES”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use our website, enrol in our programmes, are certified by us, or verify a credential.
01Information we collect
We collect only the information we need to deliver training, certification and verification services:
- Identity and contact details — name, email address, phone number, nationality, date of birth and employer.
- Training and certification records — courses attended, training center, trainer, assessment results, certificate and ID card serial numbers, issue and expiry dates.
- Photographs — a passport-style photo used on operator ID cards and certificate records.
- Account information — login credentials and preferences if you create a user account.
- Messages — information you send through our contact forms or by email.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, pages visited and cookies (see our Cookie Policy).
02How we use your information
- To register candidates, deliver courses and conduct assessments.
- To issue, maintain, renew and, where necessary, suspend or revoke certificates and ID cards.
- To operate the public verification service so that employers and authorities can confirm a credential is genuine.
- To accredit and monitor training centers and members.
- To respond to enquiries and provide support.
- To send service messages and, where you have agreed, news and updates.
- To keep our website secure, prevent fraud and comply with legal obligations.
03Public certificate verification
The purpose of an ILEES certificate is to prove competence to third parties. When someone enters a valid serial number on our verification page, or scans the QR code on a certificate or card, we display the holder’s name, photo, nationality, company, course, training center, certificate type and validity dates. This information is shown only for the specific credential searched, and each check is logged. If you believe your verification record is inaccurate, please contact us.
04Legal bases
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on: performance of a contract (training and certification); our legitimate interests (operating a trustworthy verification service, preventing fraud, improving our services); compliance with legal obligations; and your consent (for marketing and optional cookies), which you may withdraw at any time.
06International transfers
ILEES works with training centers and clients in several countries. Your information may therefore be processed outside the country where you live. When we transfer data, we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected in line with this policy.
07How long we keep information
Certification records are kept for as long as needed to verify credentials, including after expiry, so that employers can confirm historic qualifications. Contact messages and marketing preferences are kept only as long as necessary for their purpose. Technical logs are deleted on a rolling basis.
08Security
We use access controls, encryption in transit, secure hosting and staff confidentiality obligations to protect personal information. No online service can be completely secure, so please keep your account credentials safe and tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
09Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to receive a copy of your data. Some certification records cannot be deleted while a credential is valid or where we must keep them for legal or verification purposes. To make a request, email [email protected].
10Children
Our services are intended for adults in the workplace. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on our website.
