The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) cover all work equipment, including cranes and earthmoving plant.
- Equipment must be suitable for its intended use and maintained in a safe condition.
- Users must receive adequate information, instruction and training.
- Dangerous parts must be guarded and controls must be clearly identified.
PUWER and LOLER are normally applied together for lifting equipment.
